Privacy Policy

Reclaimr is designed with privacy at its core. Your files stay on your machine, and we collect only what you explicitly opt into.

Last updated: February 13, 2026

Overview

This privacy policy covers both the Reclaimr desktop application and the reclaimr.dev website. Reclaimr is a local-only desktop application — all scanning and file deletion happens entirely on your computer.

Information the Desktop App Collects

Reclaimr offers opt-in telemetry that is disabled by default. No data is collected unless you explicitly enable it in the app settings.

When telemetry is enabled, the app sends anonymized data to our analytics service:

  • Crash reports — stack traces and error information to help us fix bugs
  • Usage analytics — feature usage, scan frequency, aggregate cache sizes, and deletion statistics

We never transmit file paths, filenames, directory names, or any personally identifiable information from your system. No account or login is required to use the app. All scanning and deletion operations remain entirely local to your machine.

Information the Website Collects

The reclaimr.dev website uses privacy-focused analytics to understand how visitors interact with the site. This includes:

  • Page views and button clicks
  • Browser and device type
  • Approximate geographic location
  • Referral source

No personally identifiable information is intentionally collected through the website.

Cookies

Our analytics service uses first-party cookies for session tracking on the website. Cloudflare, which hosts and serves the site, may set security-related cookies (e.g. __cf_bm). We do not use any advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

Third-Party Services

Reclaimr uses the following third-party services:

  • PostHog — analytics for the website and opt-in app telemetry
  • Cloudflare — website hosting and CDN
  • GitHub — issue tracking and community discussions
  • Forward Email — email forwarding and delivery

Data Retention

Website and app analytics data are retained according to our analytics provider's retention policies. You can disable telemetry at any time in the app settings — once disabled, no further data will be sent from the application.

Your Rights

You can use browser privacy settings or ad blockers to block website analytics. If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have rights under the GDPR including the right to access, correct, or delete your data. If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the address below.
